Ask for help---a strange issue of MPLS

Cisco7609(PE,GE-WAN port,Fa8/29)---(Ethernet to E1 convertor)---ISP lease line(E1)---(E1 to Ethernet convertor)---Cisco1721(CE)

MPLS LDP+BGP+RIP

Only one of four customer sites connected to this PE is strange:

On PE,I can receive the rip routes send by this site(we can call it Site-D),and other vpn sites(Site-A,B,C) can ping site-D with the destination ip address is the segment between PE and Site-D router and the PE can do it too,but almost 70% packets lost.If I plug off the UTP5 cable which connected to Site-D from PE and plug it to a PC,no packet lost.

So I think no MPLS configuration error on PE and Site-D,it a packet lost problem.

On PE,I found error message:

%PM_SCP-SP-4-LCP_FW_ABLC: Late collision message from module 8, port 032

%PM_SCP-SP-4-LCP_FW_ABLC: Late collision message from module 8, port 036

%PM_SCP-SP-4-LCP_FW_ABLC: Late collision message from module 8, port 040

I don't know why,ask for your help.

Thanks!

Hi

The error log does points out collision at the PE end since you are getting the same in the PE router.

would suggest to check out the cable connecting the router and the E1 converter and the port settings in the router, which can be major concern and may trigger this error logs.

Also r u seeing any broadcasts related to RIP or anything else on the port ?

Thanks for your reply.

I has done some test.

1,Replace 7609 with a notebook configed the same address as 7609,NB can ping CE successfully without packet lost. The topo is:

NB---E1 convertor---ISP E1 line-----E1 convertor---CE router.

2,Plug the UTP cable to Cisc7609,7609 can't ping CE successfully, almost 70% packets lost.Tha topo is:

7609 Fas8/29---E1 convertor---ISP E1 line-----E1 convertor---CE router

Please the UTP cable connected 7609 to E1 convertor not changed in above.

The configuration about 7609 port fas8/29 is:

interface GE-WAN3/2.5

description Connect to ZJB-HZ-LINAN

encapsulation dot1Q 207

ip vrf forwarding xieyezhongxin

ip address 192.168.1.14 255.255.255.252

mls qos trust dscp

no cdp enable

interface FastEthernet8/29

description Connect to ZJB-HZ-LINAN-bak

no ip address

no logging event link-status

switchport

switchport access vlan 207

switchport mode access

Hi Patrick,

I would check the follwoing

1. SPEED and DUPLEX, try hard coding in both ends

2. Then, check the arp,

3. checking the interfaces for the errors would help as well

Regards

Sanjeewa

Thanks for your reply!

1,I has changed the port speed and duplex, but it's same,70% packets lost.

2,show interface fa 8/29,no error.

Would you tell me why if I connect notebook which instead of 7609 to network,no cable changed,no packets lost.

Sorry if I kept you waiting,

About packet the packet loss, we need to dig from the basic.

1. do you have have a valid arp entry, show ip arp vrf xxx

2. If you see arp issue, can you hard code the arp entry ?

3. will you be able to sniff both instances, while PC is connected and seperatly while PE is connected ?

Thank you

Sanjeewa

thanks for your reply.

This problem has been resolved.

It's a compatibility issue between Cisco7609 and E1/Ethernet convertor.

Other port on 7609 can auto-negotiate with the same vandor convertor successful to 100M-Full,but only this port can't,I had to change it to 10M-half,it's ok.

It's very strange.

Thank you very much!

I'll say 'thank you' to everybody who give me suggestion!
