disadvantage of layer 2 vpn for service provrider perspective

hello everybody

i wouldlike to know the main advantage and disadvantage of layer 2 vpn deployment for service provider perspective compared to layer 3 vpn regarding security, configuration, troubleshooting, flexibility.

is there difficulty for controlling and policing traffic in layer 2 vpn vs layer 3 vpn?? for exemple can i filter layer 4 tcp port (telnet traffic) in llayer 2 vpn tunnels or vpls???

Not too sure how to answer that as they're used in different manners, what are exactly your doubts? What do you think to use them to? What do you imagine your customers need?

Just so I understand, why would you filter telnet traffic inside an L2VPN?
