Re: FR-MPLS load balancing

Yes it possible depending on your routing protocol being used,

1) With BGP,Static being used on your PE-CE and as well as other FR links you can control the routing, and install four paths towards your other end destinations.

2) If you have OSPF then you will need help form your MPLS service provider to give you intra-area routes of the other side, as over MPLS VPN you will see the other side routes as Inter-Area routes and hence only your FR links would be preferred for load balancing exlcuding the MPLS VPN circuit.

Re: FR-MPLS load balancing

hi swaroop,

Thanks for you reply, i will explain you my setup first

Accessswitch-L3 switch-WANrouter-IGX-INDIA-IGX-USA-Router and from this router 3 FR links are going to my customer place this set up is for my FR link

mpls CE router is connected to WAN router ethernet interface and all the FR links are connected to same router serial interfaces.

so please tell me how can i do the load balancing.

Thanks.

hi swaroop,

one more input in my network i mean from india end as well as usa end i am not using any routing protocol in my network. all r static routes.

Thanks

Re: FR-MPLS load balancing

are there two routers?

if yes, I think the best way is configure HSRP to main router, then static routes with the same cost to the paths, but you will need a dynamic routing protocol because if wan mpls down, the frame-relay does not know, and static rout keep on in routing table, or you can use static route with IP SLA monitor (Track).

I did it many times in the Brazil.

Re: FR-MPLS load balancing

Hi milind,

you can mail across your topology, to me in person, and then I can talk and check wth your SP, what more can be done, and also for your setup the latency is of utmost importance, so whether its feasible and a good idea, as you IPLC links may give you higher reliability and a certain latency, which should be guranteed by the MPLS circuit as well.
