LDP or TDP

Folks,

I have 2 6500 series switches with SUP 720 3XLB's running MPLS code. I am configuring ATOMPLS in Vlan Mode.

I want to only use LDP and not TDP. But when i execute ldp commands i automatically see them being converted into tag-switching commands, example:

mpls label protocol ldp

mpls ldp logging neighbor-changes

no tag-switching advertise-tags

tag-switching advertise-tags for 13

tag-switching tdp router-id Loopback0

why does

"mpls ldp router-id loop 0" command automatically get converted into

"tag-switching tdp router-id Loopback0"

how can i disable tdp and only run ldp?

is ATOMPLS supported by TDP?

Thanks

Hello,

the commands do not reflect the protocoll used!! It´s not a bug, but a feature ;-) called downward compatibility (you can reuse the old configs from the tag-switching days ...).

The real protocol can be determined by "show mpls ldp discovery" or "show mpls interface".

Even if you have LDP up and running and NO TDP at all, you still have some "tdp/tag-switching" commands in your config. ("We are running LDP!" - "But in the config it says tag-switching tdp ..." -"SHUT UP!")

Depending on hardware and IOS version you get more and more "mpls" or "ldp" commands.

Hope this helps! Please rate all posts.
