MPLS Implementation

I am new to MPLS. Can anyone help me how MPLS works?  What pre-requisites are required for implementation?

To answer part of your question on pre-requisites, you need to ensure the following:
1. IGP reachability (OSPF or ISIS). You can use other routing protocols as well but if you plan to implement traffic engineering (TE), then its important to use OSPF or ISIS as they have extensions to enable MPLS TE in your core.
2. Make sure MPLS LDP is enabled in your core network
3. Lay out what kind of services will be provided using MPLS. For instance L3 VPNs, L2 VPNs, etc.
These are the 3 basic points to begin with.
