MPLS support for Sup1A/Sup2

I have MLS6509 with Sup1A and Sup2 both and runnign with 12.1(26)E5 image.

I'm able to configure GLobal MPLS command enabling MPLS but not able to configure at interface level to enable MPLS and telling not supported however it shows in command list.

Does above combination of HW and SW support ?

Re: MPLS support for Sup1A/Sup2

I believe you are trying to enable MPLS on LAN GiG ports, with SUP2 and MSFC 2 you have support for MPLS with the 12.1 E IOS only on WAN GiG ports.

That is you will need and Gig OSM blade to provision VPN's and as well connect core facing links over the WAN-Gig Ports.

On a 65k using SUP2 and MSFC2 with an OSM blade you can run EoMPLS and MPLS as well.

Hi Swaroop,

Your understaning is correct with respect to HW and software and also regarding LAN ports.

Thanks for clarification for OSM blade which has optical interface i feel GE WAN CARD used in Metro.

Nw, If i upgrade IOS to 12.2SX , will it work ? or still i need GE OSM card regardless of IOS.

I am not sure, with SUP720 and SXE yes it works without OSM, but you need to check anything beyond that with your local account Cisco SE.

They would be more than equipped and helpful with the information.
