MPLS VPN and PIM Tunnel issue

Hi all,

having some issues when moving some PE-Routers to a new MPLS backbone.

Before the changes, each PE has 17 tunnels per VRF

(command: show ip pim vrf "blue" neighbor)

After moving to the new backbone (changing ospf and bgp router-id, clear ospf and bgp process) the number of tunnels differ from PE to PE. One has 7, one has 13, one has 0,..etc. Reboot of the whole box has no effect.

Since we run 12.2(33)SXH4 on our Sup720/3BXL, we have a seperate address-family for the mdt setup in the BGP configuration (address-family ipv4 mdt).

When we remove a neighbor statement from that special address-family and add it again, the tunnel to that neighbor comes up and works fine.

I know that there was a bug in earlier versions of the SXH-Train (Incompatbility-issue with pre-SAFI IOS versions).

Is this bug back again? or does anyone has some other ideas what the problem can be?

regards

regards, Dirk (Please rate if helpful)

Re: MPLS VPN and PIM Tunnel issue

Hi

When ever the IOS supoprts mdt address family, In that case you need to activate the RR or remote peer if not using RR in mdt address family.

Check the post which describes all the statement you are looking for
