MPLS VPN's and Carrier supporting Carrier

Are multicast VPN's supported through a CSC cloud? We are running multicast VPN's within our campus and so understand how that works. Does the same configurationl scheme enable us to send and receive multicast packets through an MPLS provider?

Re: MPLS VPN's and Carrier supporting Carrier

Hello,

Well, why not? :-)

Afaik the implementation uses GRE to encapsulate the customer Multicast packets and forwards them across the MPLS core.

CsC is like a "P-router simulator". So the core carrier can use the same mechanisms like you do to support your customers. MTU may become an issue at some point, but generally speaking your environment is just another VPN to the core carrier.

The only real issue I see is the compatibility, if the core carrier would have no Cisco PEs and of course whether mcast will be in his product portfolio. Other than that I see no technical reason, why it should not work.

Regards, Martin
