MTU issue with L2 VFI + Bridge Domain - VPLS

Hi all,

I am trying to test VPLS by using ASR1k as PE and cat6500 as P router. The diagram looks like below:

VLAN2 ---> CE-SW1 <--trunk--> PE01 <----> P01 <----> P02 <----> PE02 <--trunk--> CE-SW2 <-- VLAN3

Config is as below:

On both PE

l2 vfi VFI1 autodiscovery

vpn id 101

bridge-domain 200

mtu 9180

interface GigabitEthernet0/0/4

description CONNECT TO CE-SW

mtu 9216

no ip address

negotiation auto

service instance 202 ethernet

  encapsulation dot1q 2

rewrite ingress tag pop 1 symmetric

  bridge-domain 200

-------------------------------------

The result on each PE are as below:

PE01#sh mpls l2transport vc 101 detail

Local interface: VFI VFI1 VFI up

  Interworking type is Ethernet

Destination address: 111.90.180.0, VC ID: 101, VC status: up

    Output interface: Gi0/0/0, imposed label stack {22 269}

    Preferred path: not configured

    Default path: active

    Next hop: 111.90.180.85

Create time: 01:08:44, last status change time: 01:03:38

Signaling protocol: LDP, peer 111.90.180.0:0 up

Targeted Hello: 111.90.180.2(LDP Id) -> 111.90.180.0, LDP is UP

    Status TLV support (local/remote)   : enabled/supported

      LDP route watch                   : enabled

Label/status state machine        : established, LruRru

Last local dataplane   status rcvd: No fault

Last BFD dataplane     status rcvd: Not sent

Last local SSS circuit status rcvd: No fault

Last local SSS circuit status sent: No fault

Last local  LDP TLV    status sent: No fault

Last remote LDP TLV    status rcvd: No fault

Last remote LDP ADJ    status rcvd: No fault

MPLS VC labels: local 266, remote 269

    PWID: 4156

    AGI: type 1, len 8, 000A 955B 0000 0065

    Local AII: type 1, len 4, 6F5A B402 (111.90.180.2)

    Remote AII: type 1, len 4, 6F5A B400 (111.90.180.0)

    VPLS-ID: 38235:101

Group ID: local n/a, remote n/a

    MTU: local 9180, remote 9180

    Remote interface description:

  Sequencing: receive disabled, send disabled

  Control Word: Off (configured: autosense)

SSO Descriptor: 111.90.180.0/101, local label: 266

    SSM segment/switch IDs: 4157/24629 (used), PWID: 4156

  VC statistics:

transit packet totals: receive 6222138, send 2331620

transit byte totals:   receive 9434194905, send 3554787086

transit packet drops:  receive 35750, seq error 0, send 0

The problem that i am facing now is I can not send ethernet frame bigger then 1490bytes across the EVC/VPLS.

But if i try with EoMPLS config, we can send upto interface MTU which around 9000bytes.

Note: all core interfaces is MTU 9216 and IP MTU 1500.

What should go wrong? Please help.

Regards,

CT
