We have a MPLS/BGP VPN service up and runnig and now we have a customer with approx 40 sites who are looking for Multicast service inside his VPN. Is this possible today ? Our PE routers are 7200 and 7600.

Hi,
Multicast VPN on MPLS will be available in the near feature. But It has some limitation. As far as I know , todays solution of Multicast on MPLS VPN is creating tunnels between CEs & enabling multicast trough them.

Unfortunately, Cisco does not have an true implementation of multicast-enabled MPLS available today, other than that idea where you run tunnels between various CE routers (which is basically a hack). The Internet draft standard of draft-rosen-vpn-mcast-00.txt has been implemented by, uh, another vendor who shall remain unnamed, but not by Cisco.
It's pretty ironic that Cisco is late to implement this standard when you consider that Eric Rosen, for whom the draft is named, works for Cisco. So basically Cisco is being slow to implement their own technology.
