Re: Strict mode and loose mode ...

Hi,

I have a scenario whereby I want traffic from Site C to load-balance between Site A and Site B which connects to the LAN.

My question is :-

1) Can the mpls vpn be setup as strict mode to allow traffic from site C to load-balance traffic to Site A and Site B?

2) Where is the configuration done for the strict/loose mode to be applied to the mpls vpn ?

Thank you,

Regards,

InternetB.

Hello Shiva,

there is no strict or loose in MPLS VPN all the control is performed at the routing level.

the service provider can take advantage of eibgp multipath to have PE node of siteC able to use both paths to LAN segments via siteA and siteB PE nodes.

So this becomes a request to SP stuff to implement your requirements

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hi Giuslar,

Thank you for the post. What would be the usage for strict/loose mode with resepct to mpls vpn then ?

thank you,

Hi,

We used those terms in MPLS-TE context when you are configuring explicit-path.

In L3VPN, what you want to achieve is pure routing decision handled by the PE. That's why you need to talk to your SP as Giuseppe already suggested.
