Managing Power Conservation With Cisco EnergyWise

You can routinely reduce the power consumption of 6900, 8900, and 9900 series Cisco IP Phones to 1 watt or less by using the Cisco EnergyWise Power Save Plus mode. Power over Ethernet-capable switches, including the 2960, 2960-S, 3560, 3560-E, 3560-X, 3750, 3750-E, 3750-X, 4500, and 6500, support Cisco EnergyWise.
Power usage statistics can be viewed centrally from Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution 4.1. Additionally, since Cisco EnergyWise uses a distributed protocol, statistics for all endpoints can be viewed directly from the command line of any switch in the EnergyWise domain by using the command:
energywise query importance 100 name * collect usage
EW policies can be scheduled so that port power levels can be set to 0 at a certain time. For example, you can configure the following for an EnergyWise-controlled port:
