Hi Nehmaan,

Here are the answer to your questions.

S and E are based on the technology specific to that release.

S - Service Providers
E - Enterprise feature set

Please check the below link for more details.

Guide to Cisco IOS Release Naming

I hope this will help you.

Thanks,

Hi Yoichi,

I thought that might be the case.

Many thanks for getting back.

Hi Nehmaan,

Sorry, previous my answer is for IOS routers.

Probably the answer to your question is below.

SE:
Cisco IOS Software functionality and hardware for mid-range and low-end Ethernet LAN switching for enterprise access and distribution networks, and mid-range and low-end metro Ethernet for service provider edge networks.

E:
Targets at enterprise core and SP edge networks. Supports advanced QoS, voice, security, and fixes defects.

Hi Yoichi,

I believe your latest email is more accurate for IOS-XE, Also looking at Cisco's Feature Navigator the "E" version supports features like 802.1q tunneling where as the "SE" doesn't.

Really appreciate it. :-)

Cheers,

Nehmaan
