The only rate limiting that I can get to work is MQC (service policy) on a physical ethernet routed port but only inbound (traffic outbound from host). I need to rate limit in both directions. No rate limiting method works on a Vlan interface. the commands are supported but have no effect. the rate limit command does nothing as does the traffic-shaping command. Through my testing I have found only the one secenario explained above to actually do any rate limiting. Do I need different cards? is there another method to use I am not familiar with? Is it even possible to rate limit on an ethernet port on a 6509 switch in the outbound direction?
