The MSFC reloads and goes into ROMmon mode after the PFC version detected does not match configured version error appears

Core issue

This issue is related to an cisco internal bug and can be viewed only by Cisco employees.

Resolution

When the MSFC is in ROM monitor (ROMmon) mode, follow these commands to fix the problem:

rommon 1 >priv
You now have access to the full set of monitor commands.
Warning: some commands will allow you to destroy your
configuration and/or system images and could render
the machine unbootable.
rommon 2 >EARL_VER=6
rommon 3 >sync
rommon 4 >confreg 0x2102

You must reset or power cycle for new config to take effect

rommon 5 >reset

If you do not manually set the variable, the system crashes and the variable is updated by the system. You should be able to boot the system the second time.
