This error message occurs when the software image version running on the Supervisor Engine does not support the hardware inserted in the slot specified by the error message.
To resolve this issue, perform this procedure:
Identify the module and refer to the Gigabit Ethernet Switching Modules section of Catalyst 6500 Series Release Notes for the minimum and recommended software versions for the module.
Verify that the version selected supports all modules in the switch and upgrade to the supported version.
Note: The Software Advisor can also be used to determine a compatible version.
