Access-list for snmp on Nexus1000V

Hello everyone!

I am new to Nexus1000V and I  was wondering if there is a way to limit snmp access via access-list on  the RO/RW community, as can be done on IOS.

I can't find anything relevent on the Reference Pages, so I was curious if anyone has done this...

Thanks in advance,
Katerina

Access-list for snmp on Nexus1000V

Hi Katerina

Yes.. You should be able to define ACL's as with other NX-OS devices... This is what I saw in our device:

VSM(config)# snmp-server community abc ?

  group    Group to which the community belongs

  ro       Read-only access with this community string

  rw       Read-write access with this community string

  use-acl  Acl name to filter snmp requests

you can first define the comunity abc as read-only, and then apply the same command with use-acl with access-list name/number attached to it.

Hope this helps..

Access-list for snmp on Nexus1000V

Hello Raj and thanks for your reply

We only get:

MKBE1NX1(config)# snmp-server community xxxx?

  group  Group to which the community belongs

  ro     Read-only access with this community string

  rw     Read-write access with this community string

No acl to configure

What NX-OS are you running? We have 4.2(1)SV1(4).

Thanks!

Access-list for snmp on Nexus1000V

switch(config)# ip access-list CiscoACL

switch(config-acl)# permit ip any any

switch(config)# snmp-server community cisco rw

switch(config)# snmp-server community cisco use-acl CiscoACL

Obviously you can restrict to any host you like but this is simplistic example to get you started.
