Ambiguous SNMP trap from 9500 switch

We have recently upgraded our 9500 sw to 2.1.2b and since this, we have been receiving ambiguous snmp traps.

Is there an update i can load into our openview server that will correctly interpret these messages.

Grateful for any help

Jason

Once you figure out which MIB the trap is coming from (may need to use the Cisco MIB Navigator: http://www.cisco/com/go/mib), go on to cisco's web site (as described here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5989/products_mib_quick_reference09186a0080216184.html#wp42357

) to download the updated MIB definition.

Install it onto your OpenView NNM server. That should fix up your NNM server's MIB parsing.

Hope this helps, please rate helpful posts.

The MIB also seems to be ambiguous. Can't find this anywhere on the searches.

I've seen that sometimes the OID actually show in the NMS is not what was sent.

Do you have a packet capture showing the raw trap that you can look at and drill down to see the actual OID?
