In Campus manager Display View (edit - map preferences) you have the possibility to load a Background Image from a Gif, JPG or JPEG file. This works fine but apparently you can not save the position of your elements on this map neither does the zoom function works for the background image. I wonder what's the use of this background image...

The background images are not stored with the maps. The selected background image should be available NMSROOT/htdocs/campus/maps.

Indeed scrolling doesn't work. I've tried it a couple of times but abandoned it.
I don't think it was designed to work with a background. Background was probably added in a minimal fashion to allow adding that to the evergrowing feature list.
Just like the export to visio function. It was once implemented in a minimal fashion and now only works with an ancient viso that even our IT doesn't have anymore.
