Re: Cisco IOS System Error Messages

Hi

Yeah u mite have recd this error coz of the existence of high traffic during peak work hours.

Also find the decoded exp for the error message...

%AMDP2_FE-3-UNDERFLO: [chars], transmit error

While transmitting a frame, the local buffer of the controller chip received insufficient data because data could not be transferred to the chip fast enough to keep pace with its output rate. Normally, such a problem is temporary, depending on transient peak loads within the system. The system should recover.

Recommended Action: No action is required.

Re: Cisco IOS System Error Messages

thanks for your help. I got the same error detail too from www.cisco.com but still unable to understand the following statement copy from your reply.

"the controller chip received insufficient data because data could not be transferred to the chip fast enough to keep pace with its output rate."

Why the controller received insufficient data but the network traffic is high ?

why the error message state UNDERFLO but to my understanding high traffic should be overflow ???

hope you can explain further thanks and really appreciated your reply

Best Regards

Re: Cisco IOS System Error Messages

Hi

Inline with the second point UNDERFLO -- i feel this is the general/static msg they have coded in so that we get the same out in our logs when we end up with some issues..
