Cisco Network Assistant - Health Monitor Not Showing Bandwidth Utilization

Hello,

Ive setup a new network with 3x 2960 and 2x 3650 switches, trying to view the bandwidth utilization per switch in cisco network assistant in the health monitor unfortunatly it show 0%. I know there is alot of traffic passing through the switches, the other monitors are working correctly (temp, ram and cpu). Is there any special settings that are needed in the switch?

     Thanks for the reply.  I have two WS-C3560X-24P that are showing 0% bandwidth utilization.  Both 3560s have version 12.2(55)SE3 (UNIVERSALK9).  Thanks again!

We've seen some other issues with 12.2(55)SE3 where some IOS commands got changed. We are looking at this now.

Hi,

     Could anyone reply with followed commands CLI output. It will help us in understanding the Health Monitor issue.

1).show controllers utilization | include Receive | Transmit

2).show interfaces | include packets | line protocol | errors

Please mention the device PID.

Hi Dave,

We contacted IOS team regarding the issue and we got to know that Switch Receive/Transmit Bandwidth Percentage Utilization and Switch Fabric Percentage Utilization will show 0 unless the traffic in the switch is in terms of Mbps.

Since CNA gets the input from the above command outputs to display the result, it is displayed as 0.

Could you please let me know if the traffic in the switch is in terms of Mbps

     Thank you for your reply. We are confident that there is over 1Mb of traffic on the switch. I have seen this issue on all our 3560 and 3750 switches. I have a 3750 switch stack that has over 100Mb of traffic and it reports the same.

    I am extreamly sorry for the delay on this.

If the traffic over the device in 100mbs means, command(show controllers utilization) should return some value with respect to the traffic. This is what i heard from IOS team. In your case it returns zero. As per the output of this command CNA will dislpay the graph.

Hi Dave,

This caluculation is for the command which CNA using to show graph.

Basically go by the port with highest traffic per second.. it is about

500000 bits/sec = 500kbps  

say if it is 100 Mbps also

then 500kbps = 0.5 Mbps 

utilization = 0.5/100 

= 0.005  

so it will show zero..

This is the output i get by passing traffic at 1Gbps..

But, In your case command returning 0. So CNA will not display graph.

Is there anything I can do on my 3750's to get the bandwidth utilization to show up on the Health Monitor?
