Cisco PI 2.1 can not create Wifi Guest User

Stefan Sawluk

Hey guys.

I have a fresh installed PI 2.1 and added a WLC 5508 Version 7.4. The Controller is discovered an managed. My problem is that i can not create guest users over PI. When i try to add i get an error message that the device is not reachable or the user already exist.

Error Message:

Error(s): You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:

Error:Could not apply this guest user account as it may already exist on the controller(s). Please verify if controller(s) is reachable from NCS and the selected profile exists on the controller(s) with Webauth enabled on it. Please send NCS logs to the network administrator.

The User in the ssh credentials in PI is a local user in WLC with read/write access.

Regards Stefan

Its is usually due to credentials not in sync, but please try the following :

> Check and share credential verification for the affected WLC from :

Report > Report Launch Pad > Device > Device Credential Verification

> Restart PI and retry

> Increase SNMP timeout under administration > System Settings.

> Delete the affected device and try to readd

Please check and confirm if the issue goes away from these steps.

Have you added and updated the SNMP RW string on the controller and PI for it? This feature may need SNMP to create this account.

Please update the credentials and try again.

Hi Vinod,

yes I tried updating the SNMP RW string on both but still the same error occurs.

Any ideas?

Hello Vinod.

I tried the same at another PI with another controller and i have the same failure. There i checked the report and i got a SNMP Write failure.

I Updated the credentials and synced the controller an now it works. I will try it at my customers controller too. I hope it will work there too.

Thank you

Stefan

Thanks for the update, it was the biggest suspect. However, in case the issue is still there, do try to update the snmp timeout OR device re-add.

Hello Vinod.

Today i tried the same at my customers PI. But i did not work. I tried everthing, but everytime i get an snmp wirte failure. Do you have an other idea? I Updated the WLC 5508 to the latest version to support my latest ap. Now i run version 7.6.120. When i Update the credentails and mark check everthing is ok. When i run the report i get the write failure.
