Dear fellows,
We are currently doing a new installatin of LMS 2.5.1 including the DFM version 2.0.3. All components of Cisco Works are working fine i.e., network devices are being known by Common Services component. However in Device Fault Manager, all these network devices are in 'Learning' state and are not coming to 'Known' state. We already upgraded the MDF PSU 1.11 and also software upgrade of DFM to 2.0.5. But problem persists. Can some one suggest what is the major root cause and how we can ractify it. It will be highly appreciated.
Thanks and regards.

Looks like you may be running into CSCsb38137:
DFM 2.0 discovery may hang (in Learning state) indefinitely
Here is the Release-note:
Symptom:
DFM 2.x discovery may hang (in Learning state).
Conditions:
This has been known to happen only on Windows (Windows 2000 and 2003) machines
that have three or more pagefiles (i.e. swap files).
Workaround:
If three or more pagefiles are configured on the system, the reduce the number
to just one or two. No more than TWO pagefiles should exist to avoid running
into this problem. To remove pagefiles, perform the following steps:
1. Right-click on "My Computer" and select Properties
2. Choose the Advanced tab
3. Click on Settings in the Performance box, and another window will appear
4. Click on the Advanced tab in this new window, then click on "Change" under
the Virtual Memory section
5. Another dialog window will appear that lists pagefiles configured on the
various system partitions.
In order to remove a pagefile, set its initial and maximum value to 0 or select
No page file for a given disk or partition.

Dear Habib,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I really appreciate it. There was only single page setting. And we had the problem as mentioned above. Then We played with different sizes such as
Min Allowed 16MB
Recommended - 12280 MB
Currently allocated 8199MB
or
Min Allowed 500MB
Recommended - 12280 MB
Currently allocated 4000MB
or
NO Page Setting i.e.,
Min Allowed 16MB
Recommended - 12280 MB
Currently allocated 0MB
But the problem persists. Here are the server hardware specs for your reference: 3 GHz, 8 GB RAM with dual processor and hard disk capacity 64GB.
Thanks for your cooperation and assitance.

I've experienced a similar problem with DFM. Typically the problem starts when DFM imports the devices when I havn't installed the service packs beforehand. Now that you have applied 2.0.5, delete the device from DCR in common services (if you sync DCR to DFM). If you dont sync (DFM device selector page) just delete them from DFM in the Rediscover/Delete Devices area.
Hopefully this will resolve your problem too.
Good luck

Sorry I got busy and couldn't reply in time. I tried as you suggested,
All devices in the Device Credentials Repository (DCR) were also in DFM.I deleted the devices from DCR common services but when I added back to it, devices were still in 'Learning State'
I tried to rediscover the devices, problem was still the same.
Regards.
