Got a question about CsicoWorks and CDP. I know that the Device Disvoery scan uses SNMP & CDP to gather device information but I have a question about CDP. Is it possible for CDP to pass through a non-Cisco device that connects two Cisco devices?
Even if these non-Cisco devices support CDP (some servers have an implementation) they will not allow the Cisco devices connected to appear properly on the topo map.
These non-Cisco devices will appear as unknown/unsupported devices and will not appear on the map and links/connections between Cisco devices will not appear. If these are the only link to other Cisco devices they may not get picked up by CM at all.
