Hi All,

Recently we have witnessed getting false alarms - operationallydown from Dfm from multiple routers and switches during early morning.

When we checked the router switches, there were no events or logs related to this. Then we confirmed that these are false alarms.

Does this issue is related to BugID - CSCuf52590 Ocasionally active OperationallyDown events are being cleared by DFM.

How can we fix this issue ? please help - urgent.

regards

SecIT

Hi ,

I don't see any fix for this Bug till now , Only workaround is to ::

-unmanage an interface in LMS
-shutdown an interface

Thanks-

Afroz

HI,

If you want to delete only the fault history then you should re-init the FAULT database alone:

windows:

NMSROOT\bin\perl.exe NMSROOT\bin\dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmFh dmprefix=FH

Linux: /opt/CSCOpx/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmFh dmprefix=FH

Thanks-

Hi Afroz,

I am thinking of reinitializing only the DFMFH. What do you suggest ?

Can we refer the below link and do only the dfmfh or do we have to do all the three (All three of the DFM (Fault Management) databases (dfmInv, dfmEpm, and dfmFh) should be reinitialized at the same time). Actually i do not want to delete the complete dfm databases except fault history.

https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/33056/lms-database-troubleshooting

Is the above applicable for 4.2.3 ??

Awaiting your valuable advice...

HI,

If you want to delete only the fault history then you should re-init the FAULT database alone:

windows:

NMSROOT\bin\perl.exe NMSROOT\bin\dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmFh dmprefix=FH

Linux: /opt/CSCOpx/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmFh dmprefix=FH

Thanks-

Thanks a lot Afroz.

Below is the plan of action I am going to follow.

1.Backup LMS database:

Collect the backup files before the activity

  1. Backup the ciscoworks db
  2. Backup the ciscoworks license / Under $NMSROOT/etc/licenses directory
  3. NMSROOT\bin\perl NMSROOT\bin\backup.pl BKP

2.reinitialize dfm fh database alone:

net stop crmdmgtd

NMSROOT\bin\perl.exe NMSROOT\bin\dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmFh dmprefix=FH

So far i have disabled the IP reachability as false under DFM\Device details\IP and restarted the ciscoworks services, but no luck.

Hence I hope the above reinitialization should solve the problem. Could you please advice.

We are getting operationalydown alarms as clear and active on everyday early morning. Clear alarm and Active alarms are in the time time difference of 4 minutes. This log comes only once a day, but every day.
