ciscoworks LMS bundle 2.5

Hi,

I am facing problem with ciscoworks LMS bundle 2.5 when rediscovering the device through Device Management. The problem is all the devices are in learning mode for more three days and it is not getting update to Known status. So in the known status it is showing "zero". Can anyone help me please to fix the same.

Hi,

I think you should have check the device credentials, specially the snmp strings (for SNMP v2c). Check first your device-list-raport in CS. How many devices listed there.

It is showing only one devices, which I added mannually. NO other devices listed in CS. CAN you pls help me what is wrong? pls

If you run a device credentials verification report on this device what does it return for the attributes?

Hi,

Yes for the PIX it verifies telnet , snmp rw,ro which is supplied mannually while adding that device.But I have 200 switches in my network. Just started playing arround with CW. But DFM is discovering my devices but not getting to my Campus woundering why. Pls help me

The switches should get discovered in Campus Manager if you have setup your seed devices and snmp settings, and also the devices need to be running CDP to be enabled.

Are the seed devices you are adding showing up in layer 2 view?

Also, the PIX will not show up in Campus Manager as it cannot pass layer 2 traffic (CDP) and any devices on the other side of the PIX will not be discovered.

My devices are set with proper SNMP RO and RW, I am not sure where do I need to check in CISCOWORKS for the same. Can you guide me pls.

Hi,

Have you try to delete all the device from the DCR and from CM with the two command line :

perl NMSROOT\campus\bin\reinitdb.pl

perl NMSROOT\campus\bin\reinitdb.pl -ut

.

Then rediscover the network from CM.

Hi,

It seems that you have still discovery problem.

Go to CampusManager-->Admin

from there check [snmp settings] for comm-strings

[discovery settig] put here at least one switch IP-address. click apply.

Go back to Campus Admin page again for the discovery status, in case, click on run discovery.

This doesn't look like Campus Manager as you mentioned above, it actually looks like the issue you mention above is DFM stuck in learning.

Which service pack are you running for DFM?

Yes DFM is not updating to it known list. It is learning upto 90% after that no program.

Server is DELL 1850 with 2GB RAM. Also I have arranged to upgrade RAM to 4GB.

Hi,

Have you try to discover the devices in DFM only one by one to see what is the status ?

You must be in manual mode.

What do you see for the pdshow output of DfmServer and DfmBroker?

If you look at the brstart.log and DFM.log do you see any errors?

what is the value of SM_BROKER under My Computer > Properties > Advanced tab > Environment variables
