Hai,

I earlier experienced the same problem. The following procedure will applicable to you if have a firewall in between your NMS server and Network device.

Assumptions:

My ciscoworks server : 10.1.3.1

My target device : 10.15.254.1 (Loopback address)

Consider a PIX firewall or any firewall in between this. Even if you allowed tftp or even full IP for the source 10.1.3.1 to 10.15.254.1.

It will not work. I had the problem.

The solution is check the connected interface IP of the router say 10.1.6.1. Put an ACL permitting the source to the destination as 10.1.6.1 - Connected interface to the firewall.

Now if you perform the IOS upgrade it will definitely work. I solved the problem by this way.

Hope this information is useful to you. If it is useful dont forget rate it :)

Cheers

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

My problem is something like this , I am able to backup ios image from device to CW using TFTP this process goes smoothly.

However when I try to copy IOS image to the device from CW , the job aborts with the following error message.

-----------------------------------------------

Fetching image from Image Library (for System Software Upgrade):

c3745-advipservicesk9-mz.123-16.bin --> d:\PROGRA~2\cscopx\temp\s3b0.1 Image retrieved from library.

Loading image file to flash device : c3745-advipservicesk9-mz.123-16.bin --> flash:c3745-advipservicesk9-mz.123-16.bin

The rcp transfer has failed. Trying tftp protocol now ...

Error loading image to Flash.

Error Info Code: '4159'

Message: 'Device Error: The copy to/from flash operation failed.'

Action/Reason:

'Probable Cause: Flash copy failed with return code of

persists, contact your technical support representative for

assistance.'

Device has been unlocked from exclusive access.

Using sh conn I am able to find out that the IOS image transfer is happenning via tftp, but it for some reason this transfer is aborted.

I have uploaded the log of show conn using the ip-addresses you have given above in your example .

My ciscoworks server : 10.1.3.1

My target device : 10.15.254.1 (connected interface IP of the router )
