Ciscoworks Software Distribution

I running LMS 3.1 and I am planning on using CiscoWorks to deploy IOS code to a pair of Cisco 4948's I have, the problem is the code that I want to deploy isn't available in CiscoWorks Software Distribution analysis. This is the code I want to deploy, but its not showing up.

cat4500-entservicesk9-mz.122-31.SGA9.bin

What do I need to do to get this working?

Re: Ciscoworks Software Distribution

I think that could be the missing of the command

snmp-server system-shutdown

on your devices!

LMS reloads the devices by SNMP and not by CLI command reload.

Per default the SNMP system-shutdown is disabled.

If this is not the failure, you should post the job-log of a failed device.

Re: Ciscoworks Software Distribution

Is it possible that the version 122-31.SGA9 is not available at all?

The Cisco software advisor tells the version 122-31.SGA8 to use for your device.

Re: Ciscoworks Software Distribution

Is it possible to upload the code from my pc onto the CiscoWorks server and deploy it to several devices?

Re: Ciscoworks Software Distribution

That is possible!

You can add a IOS out of the servers file system to the software repository.

And then you can deploy it to the devices.

Re: Ciscoworks Software Distribution

Where on the ciscoworks would I upload the file?

Re: Ciscoworks Software Distribution

Go to

RME -> Software Mgmt -> Software Repository

There you can find a button "Add" right on the bottom.

Then you will see a mask where you can choose the "Image Source".

Take "File System"!

At next you have to browse the "Input Directory", means the path where your IOS is saved on the server.

There it is important to double-click not only the folder where the IOS is safed, but also the file!

Unfortunately it is not possible to upload a file from your workstation.

Another alternative is to download the IOS from a device, if you installed it by hand in the past.

Then you have to select "Device" instead of "File System".

Re: Ciscoworks Software Distribution

I got it figured out last night and was able to deploy IOS updates....the only things that I don't understand that it failed reloading the devices.
