CNA 5.7 - unable to add members to a community

Hello,

It’s not possible to add a member to a community when creating a new one. It seems that the protocol used to communicate with the devices is HTTP and not HTTPS. With 5.6.3, it works fine.

With 5.6.3

(on the one which it fails, we don't have access (WAN provider router))

With 5.7.5

Advanced tab on both version :

Any idea why it doesn't seem to be possible ?

Thanks,

This is fixed in 5.7.6. It will be on the web site within the next day or so.

Thanks for alerting us to this and thanks for using CNA!

Same issue. Not sure if it is all of 5.7 or just 5.7(5) which I just upgraded to.

Hopefully someone has a resolution

We will look at this ASAP. Thanks for posting.

Are you normally running CNA over port 80?

Re: CNA 5.7 - unable to add members to a community

Yes. Have the defaults set http = 80 https = 443

Here is the error that I get. I try adding the device to the community by right mouse clicking on it. I have no issues pinging or ssh'ing to the device

Re: CNA 5.7 - unable to add members to a community

I assume if you change the config to run the web server on 443, adding it to

the community works?

OK. When I re-enable "IP http server" it adds it.

I have a few other communities setup and they appear to have a mix of http and https showing for their communications

Re: CNA 5.7 - unable to add members to a community

Oh.. Cisco Network Assistant requires the http server.. It won't work

without it.

CNA 5.7 - unable to add members to a community

I orignally had (and managed) this device in CNA and  had to change the IP address. After I changed the IP it neeeded to be added again.

What is odd is that I have other devices in the community that are communicating via HTTPS and have "no IP http server" configured

New Member

If "no IP http server" is configured, you will not be able to add the switch to the community.

Below screen shot shows the device list added to the community when "ip http server" configured.

When "no ip http server" is configured, observe the last device (WS-C3560X-24P) not getting detected in the screen shot below.

Can we mark this as answered?

Thanks!

Re: CNA 5.7 - unable to add members to a community

Is this something that has changed? So now you cannot use https to connect, because I have been able to in the past? As mentioned I have communities that were setup in the past configured with the following

no ip http server

ip http authentication aaa

ip http secure-server

From the help... "Note: Network Assistant tries to connect to devices with HTTPS first. If it fails, it tries again with HTTP"

Unfortunately I don't have a clearer screen shot, over 90% of my deviced show connection HTTPS

CNA 5.7 - unable to add members to a community

Hi,

Thanks everybody for all your replies.

It seems that HTTPS isn't available in that version. It was the case in the previous one. I assume it's a bug which should be fixed by Cisco asap. HTTP is disable for security purposes.

To close that topic, how can I be sure a TAC will be raised ? I don't have that privilege....

Thanks,

Can we consider that as a bug ? If yes, will it be fixed soon ?

Thanks,

CNA 5.7 - unable to add members to a community

Hello,

I am having trouble following the conversation. What is the bug? CNA should work on both http and https. Is some version of IOS not supporting https in the web server?

New Member

CNA 5.7 - unable to add members to a community

Hello,

To summarize, since version 5.7.x, it doesn't seem to be possible to only use HTTPS on devices. With 5.6.x, it works well.

I didn't change the config of the equipments (HTTP disable, HTTPS enable). With 5.6.x, no problem. With 5.7.x, unable to access them and I got the above error m essages.

For me, that's a bug as it worked fine with previous version. Isn't it ?

I am seeing the same thing that danliofazio is seeing.  I have http disabled for security reasons and cannot add members to the community.  I can add them with version 5.6(3) and have been unable to upgrade because of the issue.

CNA 5.7 - unable to add members to a community

We see may issues with CNA 5.7.x with HTTPS in this forum. one is :

https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3611593#3611593

I would suggest to open TAC case as there could be some HTTPS issue, being broken which could be identified.

Re: CNA 5.7 - unable to add members to a community

I believe the issue is that CNA 7 does not support discovery with HTTPS. This functionality existed in previous versions. I would call this a bug or a missing feature.

Vinod: Submitting a TAC case would be a great idea, but how does one submit a TAC case for something that is free and you do not have a support contract on?

CNA 5.7 - unable to add members to a community

Hello,

I just installed and tried the latest version. It seems to be better now :-) I'll submit it to cobaye which use it everyday.

Thanks for having being so fast in patching the tool which is more and more used for non-friendly CLI people.

Let me know if you have any success adding a new device. For some reason I cannot with 5.7.6

I am trying to add a 2960 switch running  Version 12.2(58)SE2. It now discovers and sees it , but when the authentication windo pops up none of the Level 15 accounts I setup will authenticate?

New Member

CNA 5.7 - unable to add members to a community

UPDATE: On the 2960s 5.7.6 does not allow me to login to the device when running c2960-lanbasek9-tar.122-58.xx and higher.

It does work fine with up to c2960-lanbasek9-tar.122-55.SE5
