Community strings on LMS 2.5

Hi mates :)

There are 4 core switches in my LAN, I am trying to setup snmp settings of them.

here is the community string command for all 4 switches:

"snmp-server community read RO"

"snmp-server community write RW"

all 4 devices in the LAN were configured with above command.

My question is:

should the community strings be uniq for each device? or can I give the same community string to all four switches as I have done?

Thanks for helping :)

You can use the same string on all the devices or use different for each, no restrictions.

Also, please try to keep your community strings with alphanumeric characters. Try to avoid items like # $ !, etc...

Also keep in mind that if you wish to discover your network with campus, the discovery proccess needs to know and try all community strings on any new device.

Cheers,

Michel
