Connecting E1 modules back-to-back

Hi,

Can we connect two E1 network modules back-to-back as I have two 3640 routers.

reason is that i want to design a test scenario,so im wondering if E1 interfaces will work without being connected to a CSU/DSU unit.

Also can u suggest me the right E1 modules keeping in mind that I will only use it as a test scenario without any line from exchange as i only need a 2Mbps link to test QoS.

Re: Connecting E1 modules back-to-back

You can make this work using a E1 crossover cable :

(Pin 1 to Pin 4, Pin 2 to Pin 5)

I have seen both the vwic and network modules used for this.
