Could not open boot directory: flash:/

hi, after did a few tests with "vpn easy server"... my 871 cisco router didnt boot anymore... I think i need to

replace the image file.... in your experience why do you think it is broked now? I just signed on in the affected

router before it breaks with the cisco vpn client and everithing worked fine... then i tried to use the client from

other machine and then it didnt respond no more... do you think that failure was caused by mutiple logins from vpn client?

this is the error message im getting when booting from console port:

Re: Could not open boot directory: flash:/

I installed the SDM, and i did configure it and the wholething... just i have a problem... once i restart the cisco router... it ask me this question: "Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]:"

And each time i restart it i have to configure it at all... is there any way to save the config the boot paramethers or some like that?

(note: of course i saved the config and i did the copy running conf to start up conf..)

For details i will include here the whole console message

--- System Configuration Dialog ---

Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]:

---------------------------------------------------

also i tried doing this:

copy running-config startup-config

also

copy system:running-config nvram:startup-config

and each time i turnoff and turn on the router it boot up with a blank configuration and ask for the "Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]:" each time... is frustrating...

Re: Could not open boot directory: flash:/

hi

once you are up and running try keying in this command under the global mode.

config-register 0x2102

once you configure up in your router check up the same using show version command and find out in the last line whether its been replicated in your config properly.once its there in ur config do a reload and find out whether you still face the same issue..

This will for sure stop those startup dialog and help u out to get rid of your frusturation :-)
