Hello
could you tell me where are saved the vlan.dat file of Catalyst switches?
In the RME doc I have just found the following text:
Archive and Restore VLAN Configuration Files
For all Cisco devices that support VLAN configuration such as Catalyst IOS
switches, Essentials creates a version of the VLAN configuration file (vlan.dat)
for each version of the running configuration file of a device. That is, the running
configuration and the vlan configuration files are archived in pairs.
You can download the vlan configuration file to the device, using the Command
Line Interface.

Hi,
The vlan.dat is saved with the running config in the following location:
/var/adm/CSCOpx/files/archive/config
There are two problems though:
- you need to know the device id to correlate where the vlan.dat is for a specific device
(there is no easy way to get that)
- the vlan.dat is saved as a binary file, thus you cannot view it
It cannot be viewed in the RME GUI either
The only reason to capture it is to restore it to a device if need be using something like
this (some options are excluded):
/opt/CSCOpx/bin/cwconfig put .. ?filetype vlan

do dir /all in the switch# you will find the path of vlan.dat
