CWLMS 3.0.1: LMS Portal 1.0.1: Window is scaled to fit the monitor

when logging in to LMS and the initial LMS Portal page opens the size of this page is set according to the monitor size (monitor resolution?). As a side effect, having a 16:9 monitor results in a big landscape GUI which is not very nice, because resizing leads to scroll-bars where it would not be necessary...

having the graphics card spread the desktop over 2 monitors results in a really big picture....

Is this a bug or can this not be avoided due to programmatically issues with the web 2.0 features of the portal?

You could probably call it a usability enhancement request, though I'm not sure how feasible the fix would be. It may not be avoidable while preserving the desired effects for portrait resolutions. You could open a TAC service request to get the official word from development.

FYI, the portal is built using an Open Source framework from Liferay ( You may find some tips there.
