I would like to do performance monitoring through IPM(Ciscoworks 2.5) to cisco 3600 series routers or any other router, when I am defining collection on IPM I am getting an error message (Cannot add source.
Check whether the source device is reachable, Read and Write community are correct, and
IPM processes are running.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
REASON: Error: The write community string specified does not match with the one in the router..) I checked the same thing on several switches doesn't not have any problem, but I am not able to do on routers. I checked more then one router.
Any Help, highly appreciated.

If you check the Device Credentials Verification in the DCR, what is it showing for these 3600's for RW string?
If you discovered these devices in CM and then they were added to the DCR, they will not have the RW string like devices added to RME may.
Can you do a packet capture while adding to IPM to see what is sent to the router and what is returned?

Regarding your first question ?
It is displaying under write SNMP "Failed" under Device Credentials Verficiation in the DCR.
Regarding your second question?
I tried several times through device center by selecting the "Edit device cridentials" tab and re-entered RO & RW strings. Still the problem was same.
Regarding your third question ?
I will do the capture and come back to you.
Note : I don't have any problem with the switches (Around 35 switches) but I have problem on all the routers which are aroung 20 No.

If the SNMP write comes back as "failed" in the DCR, this is the problem.
If you have admin privileges to LMS then you should be able to edit the device attributes.

Hi davistan,
Just to give you one update we are using snmp string as special characters I mean !@#$ABCD%^&* hope this is not causing any problem. But again on all the switches it is working perfect the only problem is on routers, any issues.

Special characters have been known to cause issues from time to time. However, on the routers that are failing do you have snmp views configured for the RW string?
If so, is the view permitting access to poll the System group? Specifically sysLocation?
