Difference between CiscoWorks LMS and CSMARS

Hi,

I would like to know what is the difference between LMS and MARS. What are the features in LMS which is not available in MARS.

For e.g. topology and log management is available in both the products. So what additional benefit can be gained with CiscoWorks LMS.

Thanks.

Re: Difference between CiscoWorks LMS and CSMARS

MARS is security devices oriented and can take action to prevent attacks besides monitoring.

LMS is for network management, archiving, it's not oriented to take actions on attacks.

CSM is another product than MARS, mainly focused on managing your IDS and Firewall policies.

Re: Difference between CiscoWorks LMS and CSMARS

Does LMS provide device configuration backup feature (based on scheduler as well).

Re: Difference between CiscoWorks LMS and CSMARS

Yes it does.

LMS is not oriented for security product management, even though you can backup the configuration on certain of them.

LMS will not backup IPS / IDS for example.

MARS / CSM are security oriented products.

Also with LMS you will not be able to manage the firewall policies or IPS / IDS signature deployment.

Here are the supported devices in LMS 3.2 :
