Enable CPU Threshold Notification on a Cisco 2621 Router

I would like to recieve an email notification when my router's cpu processes reach a certain percent. How can I do this?

There are a couple of options:

1) You can enable snmp traps for envmon, but this would be when it hit certain pre-defined levels

2) You could use rmon and configure alarms and events and use objects from the CISCO-PROCESS-MIB

Getting an example now

You could also do the following for snmp traps for CPU:

config) snmp-server enable traps cpu threshold

Then set the threshold with command

(config) process cpu threshold type total rising 10 interval 5

For RMON:

rmon alarm 10 ciscoMemoryPoolEntry.6.1 30 absolute rising-threshold 100000 20 falling-threshold

100000 owner config

rmon alarm 11 cpmCPUTotalTable.1.5.1 30 absolute rising-threshold 3000000 30 falling-threshold

3000000 owner config

Both your rising and falling are same. This means you will only get alarm when it hits there. You

need to make falling shorter so when it hits certain level, you get an alarm. E.g -

rmon alarm 10 ciscoMemoryPoolEntry.6.1 30 absolute rising-threshold 100000 20 falling-threshold

10000 owner config

rmon alarm 11 cpmCPUTotalTable.1.5.1 30 absolute rising-threshold 3000000 30 falling-threshold

300000 owner config

You can do "show rmon alarm" to see the generated alarms.
