We are running Cisco LMS and HP Network Node Manager on two different (isolated) servers, it does not work to forward my TRAPS from DFM to NNM, and also, is there a particular MIB/ MIBS to install on the NNM server to interpret LMS "messages"?
To add to Dave's reply, you will need to load the DFM-MIB for DFM 1.x and the CISCO-EPM-NOTIFICATION-MIB for DFM 2.x. These MIBs are only required if you are sending DFM notifications to NNM. If you are simply forwarding traps, then DFM will pass the traps to NNM as-is, and thus no additional DFM-specific MIBs will be required.
Thank you! I have another question, since we?re also using Network Node Manager to see if our equipment is up and alive (Cisco, 3com, Nortel, i was thinking of using only the features in DFM "Environment Settings and "Processor and memory Settings" and diable Reachability Settings and have this forwarded to NNM? Also all alerts in the list of DFM, is there a way to clear them so they disappear without laborating with values and "restart"?
You can certainly tailor DFM events and alerts to meet your needs. Be aware, though, that if you enable full trap forwarding (instead of just trap notifications) that all device traps will be forwarded to NNM regardless of type.
As for manually clearing alerts in DFM, this is now possible in DFM 2.0.6 which is part of LMS 2.6 which is downloadable from Cisco.com.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
