How to calculate a protocol trafic??

hi,

protocol name : CDP

fréquence : 60 seconds

frame size : 414 bytes

devices : 60 switchs, 4 core switchs, 5 routers and 2 access servers.

please anyone know the general rule to calculate the trafic of any protocol in the network.

Hi,

about CDP see answer to your other post.

Generally you acn NOT calculate traffic in a network, as most of the traffic is created by user action and the users can not be calculated ...

You can maybe give estimations based on experience, but as applications are changing experience is somewhat difficult to apply.

In case it is about management traffic you are interested in: There is regular traffic like polling which can be calculated rather precisely. But then there is traffic created by unforseen events like an SNMP trap sent because of interface down. This can also just be estimated roughly based on experience.
