How to install MIBs for LMS

I have installed LMS2.2 on Solaris 8. But it seems I do not need to install or set up MIBs to lauch RME/DFM/Device Manger and other applications.

Below are my questions regarding MIB installation and configuration; I could not find answers from Cisco technical support documents:

1. When do we need to install MIBs?

2. Are MIBs integrated to application packages? Which applications need to install additional MIBs?

3. How do we install MIBs, which directory is for MIBs?

4. What is the difference between MIBs and Ciscoview packages (under Ciscoview/Adminstration/"Package Support Updater"/"Add Packages"? Where is the Staging Area directory? Are the MIBs installed at the staging area?

Your help is highly appreciated.

Hi,

You do not need to install separate MIB files in LMS 2.2. They are integrated into device packages for CiscoView and IDU updates for CS, RME and CM.

CiscoView packages have MIB info included in them so that you can recognize devices properly and collect basic info such as port status.
