In addition to Nadim's correct response, the installation process is pretty straigtforward. It's either a Windows Installer file or a Solaris installation script file that runs and "pushes" the updates onto the server. It takes care of starting and stopping services as required.
Note that CiscoView Package Updates use the Package Support Updater applet that is installaed on the server. In that case, the PSU tool "pulls" the updates in from a file location where you have downloaded the updates.
