Hi all,
We have the following cisco voice device:
Platform Type 7835I2
Processor Speed 2333
CPU Type Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 5140 @ 2.33GHz
Memory 2048 Mbytes
Object ID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.585
OS Version operatingsystem.UCOS3.0.0.0-42
which is added for management in the LMS 3.0 application. Recently, the device was updated with additional 2 GB of memory, but this change was not reflected in DFM and RME applications. I have started inventory job, but it states that the device has only 2048 MB of memory installed. On other side, the Call Manager application on the device recognizes the change and it states that has 4096 MB of memory.
I used a protocol analyzer to catch the snmp communication between LMS and Call manager. Here it is the Call Manager snmp response:
SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 (1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0): Hardware:7835I2, 1 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 5140 @ 2.33GHz, 2048 MB Memory: Software:UCOS 3.0.0.0-42
Any ideas why this is happening?

Velin,
The following:
SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 (1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0): Hardware:7835I2, 1 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 5140 @ 2.33GHz, 2048 MB Memory: Software:UCOS 3.0.0.0-42
Is what you captured ?
Regards,
Omar

Yes, that is what i captured with the protocol analyzer. But actually the server has 4 GB memory.

You means that this is not LMS problem but it the server's because it's not announcing the correct RAM size.
Are you verified that the server is using effectively 4GB of RAM ??

Yes, i think maybe it is not a LMS problem, because for some reason the server is not announcing (through SNMP) the correct RAM size installed. On the other side, the Call Manager application that resides on the server shows that the RAM size is 4 GB

You tried to reload the server ? or the SNMP agent service?
05-06-2009 11:02 PM
Yes, i tried to reload the Call Manager server, but nothing changed.
This is what i see, when snifferring DFM and Call Manager snmp communication:
RFC1213-MIB::mib-2.25.3.3.1.2.1 (1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.1): 12
RFC1213-MIB::mib-2.25.3.3.1.2.2 (1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.2): 13
RFC1213-MIB::mib-2.25.2.3.1.5.2 (1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.5.2): 512062 (hrStorageSize)
RFC1213-MIB::mib-2.25.2.3.1.6.2 (1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.6.2): 0 (hrStorageUsed)
RFC1213-MIB::mib-2.25.2.3.1.5.1 (1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.5.1): 1021920 (hrStorageSize)
RFC1213-MIB::mib-2.25.2.3.1.6.1 (1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.6.1): 1017417 (hrStorageUsed)
And here are the results from a snmp walk on the Call Manager. Here i can see the correct amount of memory installed:
SNMP Walk Output .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.2
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrMemorySize.0 = INTEGER: 4087680 KBytes
And these a re the results from snmp walk on the mibs .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.6 (hrStorageUsed)
and .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.5 (hrStorageSize)
SNMP Walk Output .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.6
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageUsed.1 = INTEGER: 1016584
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageUsed.2 = INTEGER: 0
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageUsed.3 = INTEGER: 2830576
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageUsed.4 = INTEGER: 0
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageUsed.5 = INTEGER: 0
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageUsed.6 = INTEGER: 0
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageUsed.7 = INTEGER: 8420542
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageUsed.8 = INTEGER: 8413
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageUsed.9 = INTEGER: 8207
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageUsed.10 = INTEGER: 11353
SNMP Walk Output .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.5
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageSize.1 = INTEGER: 1021920
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageSize.2 = INTEGER: 512062
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageSize.3 = INTEGER: 3111096
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageSize.4 = INTEGER: 0
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageSize.5 = INTEGER: 0
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageSize.6 = INTEGER: 0
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageSize.7 = INTEGER: 10817708
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageSize.8 = INTEGER: 256665
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageSize.9 = INTEGER: 3111104
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageSize.10 = INTEGER: 510960
What i understand is that maybe DFM does not request all the available mib information from Call Manager, regarding the memory state.
I really appreciate any help on this, cause it's getting on my nerves now :)
