IP address unique?

is an ip add always unique.i believe not?

There are two types of IP address:

- public IP addresses, which should be uniquely assigned

- private IP address from the following ranges, which can be used by multiple organisations:

10.0.0.0/8

172.16.0.0/12

192.168.0.0/16

These addresses should not be seen on the Internet, though.

no i didnt mean this.i meant public address itself..

do we have a chance of having public add. not unique.

bcos the public IP might differ from ISP to ISP....

Absolutely not.. public addresses have to be unique.

but am able to see the webserver locations outside a country but physicaly and logically it's in a differnt country.for example if i try ot see the location of www.san.com am able to see it as located in US but it's not in US at all...

Physical location has nothing to do with DNS names or IP addresses.. e.g. just because a site has a name such as www.sitename.com.au does not mean that it is hosted in Australia.
