IPStatus=TIMEXCEEDINTRANS

I get unresponsive alerts from DFM where ipstatus is IPStatus=TIMEXCEEDINTRANS. Admin and oper status is UP. What causes that alert. Any idea.

thanks

usually it is that DFM cannot succesfully ping the interface and get a response like 'TTL exceeded in transmit'; Admin and Oper status are determined by snmp so there is no problem with this. DFM monitoring of IP interfaces relies on both successfull ICMP and SNMP communication. There is a script available from TAC to change this behaviour in the way that DFM does not try to ping a certain interface.
