Is it possible to restore one backup from LMS3.1 to LMS3.2?

We've installed LMS3.2 in our site but I would like to restore an old backup file from LMS3.1

Sure. Just restore the backup to the 3.2 server as you would normally restore a 3.2 backup. The code will handle the data migration.
