You better can make use of simple syslog to find out when the isdn is getting connected and disconnected.
Also you can have the idle timeout timers reduced to minimum value so that they can disconnect once they stay idle for the defined period of time.
If you are running any routing protocol then better to have demand based (snap shot routing) updates to the peer router.
