Hi AL-QCGH,
First things first, make sure you have the latest version of java installed.
If that doesn't work, a lot of users find success by modifying a configuration file in the path,
C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\Cisco Network Assistant\startup\startup.properties
using a text editor like notepad and change this specific line, from
"JVM_MAXIMUM_HEAP=1024m"
to
"JVM_MAXIMUM_HEAP=512m"
Hope that helps

I have tried updating the Java on my laptop and also modified the startup file, but still getting same message. Any suggestions on what else to try?

Ensure you are running in administrative mode.

Sorry, this didn't work for me.
I got it working by searching for the "Cisco Network Assistant" shortcut, then, right-click and select "run as Administrator"
