Listing devices by IP addresses.

When CW does an automated acquisiton of devices on the network, I noticed that it does not list them by hostname but rather IP address and sometimes two IP addresses of the same device but different ports. How can i get CW to list devices by hostname

If you have DNS configured and the hostnames are fully resolvable you can configure CM to list the devices by hostname.

The list of device discovered will show a hostname column and also in the topo map you can select view label to display hostname.

Remember that DNS is the most important part...the hostname command on the device itself would be sysName. If hostnames are discovered CM will send these hostnames to the CS DCR.

Also, you can using resolver.pl in the CSCOpx/bin directory to test the DNS resolution. If it doesn't resolved then LMS won't get hostnames.
