one short question regarding lms and anti-virus software. is it ok to install a anti-virus software like avira etc. on an lms system? are the known problems or restrictions when running anti-virus software on an lms server?
Yes, you can install AV software on the LMS server. You should just disable on-access scanning for the NMSROOT directory tree. The only known problem with AV software is with Sophos. There was a problematic version that interfered with Java processes like Tomcat. The latest version of Sophos should be fine.
