LMS 3.1: apache service error

Hi,

After reboot Customer has this messages on windows event viewer:

Date:  5/28/2010
Time:  10:13:47

User:  N/A
Computer: FRCF1NTW10
Description:

The Apache service named; C:\PROGRA~1\CSCOpx\MDC\Apache\Apache.exe; reported the following error:

>>>; [Fri May 28 10:13:47 2010] [warn] pid file c:/program files/cscopx/mdc/apache/logs/httpd.pid overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?; <<<

before the error.log file could be opened.

; More information may be available in the error.log file.;

You will find pdshow where apache is ok, file pdshow_280510_apache_ok.txt, in the morning LMS was ok except UT.

On monday, we could not connect to LMS we saw that apache.exe crashed on 28 May in the afternoon, file pdshow_280510_apache_bad.txt

We reboot lms server, then LMS is ok, UT too.

I saw conversation related to CSCsg29627 bug, Do you think that we have the same issue ?

We have an other message type in the event viewer :

Date:  5/18/2010
Time:  7:42:59 AM
User:  N/A
Computer: FRCF1NTW10
Description:
Apache.exe child process caused an exception and reported error
More information may be available in the error.log file.
Apache.exe child process will be restarted !      .

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

and in error.log:

[Tue May 18 07:42:59 2010] [error] Apache.exe caused a EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module ApacheCore.dll at 001B:6FFA8161, ap_ctx_get()+17 byte(s)

I saw a conversation https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/663665#663665 that explains this message is not important. Is it ?

Many thanks, Elisabeth

Not a Cisco bug, but I referred to the problem in the thread you mentioned in your initial post.

Re: LMS 3.x: apache service error

3.x is too generic.  Exactly what version of LMS do you have?  If less than 3.2, then you are most likely seeing the bug I mentioned in the other CSC thread.  This is fixed in LMS 3.2 as we are now using Apache 2.2.

Re: LMS 3.x: apache service error

This is LMS 3.1, windows 2003 R2 SP2

Re: LMS 3.x: apache service error

Then you will need to upgrade to 3.2 to get around this.  Typically, this bug is non-operationally impacting.  In certain rare cases it does prevent access to LMS.  The fix was only really possible when we moved to the more recent Apache version.

Re: LMS 3.1: apache service error

Hi,

Bug CSCsg29627 seems to be fix on 3.1.

Do you know if there is an other bug relate to this issue which is fix on 3.2 ?

Many thanks, Elisabeth
